Less than a month ago I looked at someone’s phone and said how can they have 100 unread emails and now that is me. It is so crazy. I know have not made it yet and this is just the beginning of another beginning but it just reminds me I love music and I love my life and where I am headed.

I just wanted to tell everyone Happy Easter!!! and stay tuned! I have had a lot going on lately and haven’t been able to update. I had Ferris Fest, The AP Tour, Minus The Bear, on top of school and everything else. I have been an extremely busy girl!!!

Next Wednesday I have the Avalanche Tour and the following morning I fly to New York for Bamboozle!! I am extremely stoked! As well finishing up finals and moving to New York.

“I’ll be going away for awhile.” But stay tuned for the stories to come!

Coming to college I had no expectations except living out my dream. I know this may sound cliche but in all honestly I never imagined the greatness the world had in store for me.

The person I have become is far from I imagined but then again I had no expectations. I love who I am. I do make many mistakes no matter what I do but my heart is in the right place.

I discovered the good in the world and developed some skills and friendships that I could not live without. I learned being professional doesn’t mean being bland or stiff but the fact you can adapt your personality to have a professional manner about it. You can be you and be considered a professional.

Everyday I learn something new and am inspired. I learned what it truly means to be over worked and had to step down from an amazing project I really wanted to be a part of. You have to make sacrifices in order for things to pan out. I learned you can’t do it all but if you do the best you can it will be appreciated. I actually have to step down from a few other projects even though I know I can pull them off I really need to take care of my health which I have been neglecting.

Also excuses are unnecessary and no one wants to hear them. Honesty is the best policy in every situation. I live by this policy. Don’t let anyone tell you different.

I want everyone to know you can live the life you never imagined you just have to work for it. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been just where you going. I know better than anyone that demons can be conquered and laid to rest. Everyone has rough points it just matters how you overcome them. (Get lost in the music, its a powerful thing)

If your a close friend of mine or follow me on twitter you may have noticed my slight obsession with Bright Eyes. So this past Monday when I finally had the chance to see Conor Oberst, needless to say I was in heaven.

I have been a huge fan of Bright Eyes since I was 14. For this day to come I just cant express the magic I felt. He is one of the greats of our time and I encourage you if you haven’t to check out Bright Eyes whether it be live or a cd it is definitely worth your time.

I wasn’t able to snap many great pics but I did grab one I really liked.

For the show I was able to reunite with one of my good friends Bri Manado.

And here is another pic Bri, Sara, Katie, and I.

This was one of the best performances I have ever seen. I didn’t care much for the setlist but it was still a magical experience. My fourteen year old self went heaven and the 20 year in me and was born.

On a side note as I mentioned I love fashion so I wanted you to get a sneak peak into my wardrobe with a pic from today:

Dress Urban Outfitters, Tights Charlotte Russe, Bracelets (I’ve collected all over the place), Earings Forever 21 paired with some cute oxford’s and a brown leather jacket.

Well that’s all for today. Rock n roll.

So about two weeks ago myself and miss Alex Lorenz decided that if we wanted to have solid internships in New York for the summer that we needed to make a trip out there for spring break.

And in one week we both had four interviews scheduled and she received a fifth when we arrived!

The Trip:

In order to make this trip affordable we had to fly out on standby courtesy of her wonderful grandparents.

Friday after class we headed to Kalamazoo to drop my car off and then on to McHerny, Illinois so we could fly out of O’Hare the following morning.

We got stuck in Chicago Traffic which was very unpleasant with the weather.

After a long drive we both just wanted some food and some sleep. We had and early morning ahead of us, 4:30 am is not fun.

If you have ever flown standby you understand the stress involved. It was just a year ago when Alex and I tried to make a trip out to California to see Something Corporate and were unsuccessful but that is a story for another time. Thankfully this time we got out on the first flight!

We arrived in New York safe and sound where my Uncle John was waiting to take us into Connecticut. I like to take this time to thank my gracious aunt and uncle for feeding and making sure we got to and from while we were in New York. I hope they understand how grateful we are to them for doing this.

We spent the weekend baking, watching movies, sitting around, sleeping, and relaxing.

I tried to knead bread and well….I failed.

Alex however was a boss.

Everything we made tasted amazing. We can’t wait to use our skills this summer and next semester when we live off campus!!!

NEW YORK 🙂

Monday morning is when our interviews started we took a train from New Haven into Grand Central Station. From there we walked to Time Square and parted ways because Alex’s first interview was at eleven.

I browsed through time square going from store to store.

First place I went was Toys R Us but honestly I have the spirit of a child so it was only fitting.

I love Hello Kitty so I had to snap a pic:

After exploring Toys R Us I went into the Hard Rock Cafe and picked up a bracelet and ventured through Forever 21. I really like what the fashion industry has in store for summer but since I am strapped for cash I limited myself to one item.

These awesome floral shorts:

At some point this weekend a outfit involving them and tights will be created.

Then I got some Jamba Juice and took a pic standing in Times Square.

From there I was headed to the Upper West Side to meet Mikey from +1 at Aroma. Such a cool dude and a great company. No matter where my future takes me I hope somehow its intertwined with +1.

From there I was headed to Brooklyn to interview with MusicSkins. Now this is what I call an amazing interview and I loved the company, the people, and the office. They offered me an internship on the spot and they gave me an offer I could not refuse. Needless to say I accepted and as of right now I am moving to New York this May to pursue this internship. Till then you can find me blogging for them here.

From there I was headed back into Manhattan where I was able to see the Manhattan bridge and the Statue Of Liberty.

I tried snapping a pic from the subway but I obviously failed.

My last interview of the day was at Crush Management. I interviewed with Ashley Cook who I have been speaking with since September. The interview went really well, I felt like our personalities were very compatible which made for easy conversation. Also helps that this is my dream company and they have the best roaster ever!

After I got out of my interview I received an email saying I had an interview with MTV in Santa Monica which will take place this Monday. Not like my life isn’t crazy enough at the moment and this happens!!!!

From there I was headed back into Times Square to meet up with Alex. Here is a quick pic I took before getting on the subway:

I met up with Alex and we headed to Brooklyn to stay at Eryn’s place for the night. Shout out to Eryn for giving us a place to stay and giving me the opportunity to meet this lovely being Juno:

You may have kept me up all night but you were adorable!!!

The next morning I was headed into Jersey to spend the day with The Syndicate.

I had at interview at 11 and it was about a hour trip from where I was. That morning I woke up very early by myself but needless to say I arrived at my destination an hour early.

But here is the view I got to admire in doing so:

And hey I found the perfect place to live!!!

Just kidding but hey a girl can dream right!

Around eleven I headed into the office for my interview with Tracey Zucatti. It went amazing and by this time I had perfected my interviewing skills and knew what questions to ask. All around was a great interview. She was an extremely nice lady who introduced me to everyone in the office. She told me to keep her updated about my plans.

I was honest with every employer that I was taking other interviews in the city. I mean in all honesty to fly all the way out there and put all  my eggs in one basket would be stupid. (Learned on the last trip) Everyone was very respectful of it, thankfully.

After my interview I volunteered to help around the office. I helped package promo, sort promo, do internet research, listen in on a meeting, and other office activities. Everyone in the office was amazing!!!! To say I loved what the Syndicate does is an understatement. It was great to meet Melissa Meyers the lady I had been working with to cover campaigns. I loved being at Syndicate but before I knew it, it was 3 o’clock and there wasn’t much else for me to do. I said my goodbyes and headed back in the city to meet up with Alex.

Here is some last minute shots I snapped on our way out of the city:

Rihanna billboard because I love her.

Picture of the M & M store because by the time we made it there. We were too tired to go in.

As we were headed to Grand Central station we passed Radio City Music Hall.

At Grand Central Station I had the pleasure of enjoy a pistachio cupcake from Magnolia Bakery. BEST CUPCAKE OF MY LIFE. Hands down so good. I was to busy focusing of taking off the obnoxious glitter case I bought for my phone that I did not snap a pic.

From there we had and hour and a half train ride back into New Haven where my aunt was waiting for us.

Where the trip began it ended. The next morning we had to be up at 3:30 am but we made the first flight out and then I had a 7 hour drive home to my family and enchiladas.

I want to leave you with the wonderful words of Jay Z and Alicia Keys:

In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There’s nothing you can’t do,
Now you’re in New York!!!
These streets will make you feel brand new,
the lights will inspire you,
Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York

Welcome to the bright light..

Rock n roll.

As long as you know your beautiful it does not matter what everyone else believes.
